The Feast of the Assumption of Mary is Celebrated on August 15th. This is a popular day observed with great festivity in Poland where the famous walking pilgrimage travel throughout the country arriving in Jasna Gora (Czestochowa) for the celebrations. This year, as the date falls on a Saturday, our observance at St. Casimir will take place at the vigil before Friday, August 14th at 7pm.
At the conclusion of Mass, we will have the blessing of flowers and herbs which everyone is invited to bring with them from home.
A part of the Church’s ritual since the 10th century, this custom both honors Our Lady’s Assumption into Heaven, and marks the beginning of the harvest season invoking God’s blessing upon the bounty of the Earth.
